Viettel Launches Vietnam’s Largest Green Data Center For AI Development

Viettel Group has officially inaugurated the Viettel Hoa Lac Data Center, marking a significant milestone in Vietnam’s digital infrastructure landscape. With a robust capacity of 30MW, it stands as the country’s largest data center, signaling Viettel’s commitment to advancing technological capabilities.

Designed with the latest advancements in mind, the Hoa Lac Data Center is tailored to meet the evolving needs of AI development and the utilization of high-performance chips. Boasting 60,000 servers, over 2,400 racks, and spanning 21,000m2, it offers unparalleled scale and efficiency in data management.

The launch of this 14th data center expands Viettel’s infrastructure to a formidable 230,000 servers, 11,500 racks, and a total power capacity of 87MW. This underscores Viettel’s strategic vision in bolstering Vietnam’s digital resilience and competitiveness.

In addition to its scale, the Hoa Lac Data Center sets new benchmarks in sustainability. It holds certifications for energy management, environmental impact management, and occupational safety and hygiene standards. Moreover, it commits to using renewable energy sources for 30% of its electricity consumption, setting a precedent for eco-friendly data centers in the region.

With its high coefficient of performance and optimized power usage effectiveness, the Hoa Lac Data Center sets a new standard for efficiency in data center operations. Recognized by HSBC for sustainable financing eligibility, it demonstrates Viettel’s dedication to responsible business practices.

Looking forward, Viettel plans to expand its data center network further, aiming to accommodate 17,000 racks by 2025 and 34,000 racks by 2030. This strategic investment aligns with Viettel’s mission to democratize cloud computing in Vietnam, ensuring widespread access to domestic cloud services.

At the opening ceremony, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung lauded Viettel’s vision, noting plans for the establishment of three additional data centers with a combined capacity of 240MW. This underscores Viettel’s pivotal role in driving Vietnam’s digital transformation agenda.
