Booking the right Airbnb in Vietnam
Traveling to Vietnam can be difficult. Booking the right Airbnb for your vacation, temporary relocation, or local staycation can make a world of difference for your trip. For those of you that are thinking of moving to Vietnam, Airbnb can be an affordable peek into different neighborhoods before you rent your own place.
We’ve lined up a few suggestions on who to stay with on Airbnb in Ho Chi Minh City. We’ve stayed with all five hosts. They check in guests themselves, operate their listings as real hosts and not as companies, and can introduce their neighborhoods with local knowledge and expertise.
Tam
Tam and his siblings run this family business, which has several rooms upstairs our very own Vietcetera Cafe. The rooms feature minimalist design, all with their own nicknames, private bathrooms, and some with balconies. Located on the edge of District 1 and 3, these Airbnb listings offer convenient access to downtown and the airport.
Vu
Located in the Tan Dinh neighborhood of Ho Chi Minh City, Vu’s French colonial shophouse is a designer’s dream house – it was recently featured on Elle Decor. It features rooftop natural light, a suspended staircase, and a small indoor pool. You’ll get the whole place if you book with Vu.
Vu is Vietnamese-Norwegian and brings with him to HCMC a Nordic design sense.
As for his hosting style, I recently stayed here when my brother was in town. Vu was prepared to receive us and gave us a comprehensive overview of the house before handing over the keys.
Hoa
Hoa’s home on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai street is one block away from the American and French consulates. It’s probably the safest and quietest street in Ho Chi Minh City.
The home is in a clean alleyway and is a perfect mix of local and foreign conveniences. Just a step away is one of the best restaurants in the city, Pizza 4P’s.
Her knowledge of the city and neighborhood come from her upbringing in Ho Chi Minh City. She’s a true local in an ever growing city of transients.
