Duolingo, the world’s top mobile learning platform, is excited to share its latest vision. They’re taking their proven and fun teaching methods beyond just languages and diving into new territories: Music and Math. The big reveal happened at Duocon, a fantastic event that’s all about languages, learning, and tech.

Luis von Ahn, the co-founder and CEO, had this to say, “Duocon is all about celebrating our awesome learners from all over the world. Our main focus is on creating the best education possible and making it available to everyone. With the new Music and Math additions, we’re one step closer to achieving that dream.”

Going Beyond Languages

In a headline session, Severin Hacker, co-founder and CTO, dives into the exciting world of Math and Music, subjects that resonate with people across the globe, much like language does. He shares the upcoming Math course enhancements, which will cover practical, real-life math skills like tip calculations and hourly wages, helping adults sharpen their mental math. Vanessa Jameson, the Engineering Director, gives us a sneak peek into Duolingo’s fresh Music course, explaining how they’ve added music education while keeping that classic Duolingo gamified style.

Better Learning

Duolingo knows that learning English is a big deal for many folks, as it can lead to better jobs and education. So, they’re launching a new way for advanced English learners to immerse themselves even further in the language.

Bozena Pajak, VP of Learning and Curriculum, breaks down the “Duolingo Method,” their secret recipe for creating lessons and courses. They’re also adding cool features to some of their popular courses, like:

  • DuoRadio, which is like listening to podcasts in different languages.
  • A nifty tool to help with the unique writing systems of Japanese and Mandarin, two languages that lots of people are learning.

More Fun Learning

With over 74 million monthly active learners completing a whopping 9 billion exercises weekly, Duolingo is all about making learning even more enjoyable. The product experts at Duolingo introduce upcoming features that add a touch of delight to the multi-subject app, including:

  • Adventures, a new mini-game where learners become Duolingo characters and use their language skills in interactive scenarios.
  • The upcoming season of The Duolingo French Podcast, hosted by Oscar-winning actress Ariana DeBose, reveals the captivating story of 1920s dance icon Josephine Baker, who was also a spy for the French Resistance.
