In August and September 2024, Techcombank successfully concluded its international recruitment campaign in Singapore and the U.K, wrapping up an impressive season of the 2024 Overseas Talent Roadshow.

First launched in 2022, the Overseas Talent Roadshow is a groundbreaking initiative aimed at attracting highly skilled Vietnamese professionals working in major global financial hubs such as Singapore, the U.K, the U.S, and Australia.

Now in its third consecutive year, the 2024 Roadshow reaffirmed the success of this initiative, making impactful returns to Singapore and the U.K.

2024 Highlights: Over 2,000 Engaged Candidates And Expanded Reach

This year’s campaign attracted over 2,000 Vietnamese professionals from Singapore, the U.K, and across Europe.

The event offers talented professionals the chance to meet and engage directly with Techcombank's leadership. It also provides deeper insights into the bank's vision, mission, and aspirations, alongside showcasing career opportunities within Techcombank and the broader Vietnamese market.

A major highlight this year was the addition of the Techcombank Info Day, an online event held one week before the in-person events, significantly expanding the campaign’s reach and drawing in even more high-potential candidates.

The Info Day featured key speakers such as Prasenjit Chakravarti, Techcombank's Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer, along with Techcombank employees who had participated in the 2022 Roadshow in Singapore and the U.K. Their personal stories of returning to Vietnam and thriving at Techcombank served as a source of inspiration, showcasing the opportunities for growth and integration at the bank.

Regarding the ideal Vietnamese candidates the bank is looking to recruit, Trương Thị Thúy Oanh, Techcombank's Director of Talent Acquisition, highlighted three main talent groups:

  • Digital Innovators: Experts with deep knowledge and extensive experience in digitalization, data, and technology. They are pivotal to Techcombank’s digital transformation strategy, spearheading cutting-edge innovations in operations and services.

  • Design Thinkers: Creative problem solvers with a knack for finding effective solutions. In a fast-paced environment like Techcombank, challenges are inevitable, and "design thinkers" play a critical role in developing optimal solutions to meet customer needs.

  • Business Enablers: Strategic thinkers who provide the support and infrastructure for leaders to excel. Their creativity and problem-solving skills help drive the success of key initiatives, ensuring every project achieves maximum impact.

Techcombank’s Talent Attraction And Development Strategy

Nguyễn Lê Thảo Nguyên (Veo Nguyen), Head of HR Business Partner at Techcombank, shared the vision behind the bank’s international recruitment strategy:

"Two or three years ago, Techcombank set forth ambitious goals for our five-year strategy, knowing we would face significant challenges.

One of the most critical obstacles was the shortage of skilled talent, both in terms of quantity and quality. We were missing key specialized skills that are hard to find in the market, especially those essential for our transformation in areas like digitalization, data, and the Agile model."

Recognizing this, Techcombank identified that recruiting Vietnamese talent from overseas would help close the talent gap, particularly those with experience in global organizations and developed markets. These professionals bring not only innovative and diverse perspectives but also help bridge the expertise gap between international standards and Vietnam.

Success Of “Homecomers” And Bright Future Prospects

Employees who joined Techcombank through previous Overseas Talent Roadshows have seamlessly adapted to the bank’s fast-paced environment, making meaningful contributions to its growth and transformation.

Many have been selected for Techcombank’s Key Talent Segment, an exclusive program aimed at developing future leaders. These professionals benefit from top-tier training and are positioned to take on leadership roles within the organization.

A prime example is Nguyễn Lê Thảo Nguyên (Veo Nguyễn), who became the youngest recipient of the prestigious Techcomer Award just two years after joining. Her journey showcases Techcombank’s commitment to fostering exceptional talent and building a high-performance workforce.

Continuing The Journey As The “Home For the Best Talent”

Aspiring to be one of Southeast Asia’s top banks, Techcombank continues to make significant investments in Digital, Data and Talent - three pilars of the bank's digital transformation strategy. Initiatives like the Overseas Talent Roadshow remain a cornerstone in attracting world-class talent, strengthening the bank’s capabilities, and enhancing its offerings.

As the 2024 Roadshow concludes, Techcombank reaffirms its role as a hub for top talent, providing more opportunities for global professionals to join its ranks.

Additionally, Techcombank is the first and only Vietnamese bank to be ranked 9th in Asia’s Top 10 Best Workplaces by Great Place to Work (GPTW). For three consecutive years, it has also been recognized as the "Employer of Choice" by CareerViet surveys.
