Marriott International To Add 8 World-Class Hotels In Vietnam With Vinpearl Partnership
Marriott International, Inc. announced on Wednesday the signing of a strategic agreement with Vinpearl to convert and develop close to 2,200 rooms across eight hotels in Vietnam, significantly expanding its portfolio of world-class hotels and resorts in the country.
Marriott offers the most powerful portfolio in the hospitality industry, encompassing nearly 8,000 properties under 30 leading brands spanning 139 countries and territories. At present, the hospitality brand operates ten hotels and resorts in Vietnam, and plans to quadruple its number.
Vinpearl, on the other hand, owns Vietnam’s largest international five-star hotel, resort, spa, conference center, F&B service, golf course, and amusement park chain. The Vietnamese brand operates 45 facilities, over 18,500 rooms and villas, three theme parks, two amusement parks, two animal safari parks, and four golf courses in 17 cities and provinces nationwide. Vinpearl properties have been continuously reaping recognition over the years, including at World Travel Awards.
With Marriott International partnering with Vinpearl, the goal to significantly expand its portfolio of world-class hotels and resorts in the country will “accelerate our growth in Vietnam,” Rajeev Menon, President, Asia Pacific (excluding Greater China), Marriott International, said.
This collaboration expects to see the debut of the Autograph Collection Hotels brand in the country. Other planned openings span the following brands: Marriott Hotels, Sheraton Hotels & Resorts, and Four Points by Sheraton.
Rajeev said in the press release they’re thrilled to work with Vinpearl and broaden their horizons in Vietnam. “With the country's solid foundation for a resilient economy, and continuous growth of its infrastructure, especially in the tourism sector, we are confident this collaboration will enable us to better cater to our guests' needs.”
The deal includes eight hotels: Six conversions and two new builds.
The six conversions that are expected to be part of Marriott's system later this year comprise the 223-key Vinpearl Luxury Landmark 81, Vietnam’s first Autograph Collection hotel. It’s a 461-meter tower on the banks of the Saigon River that will include three food and beverage outlets, 12 function spaces, a business center, spa, outdoor pool, and fitness center.
The other five are the 200-key, 39-villa Danang Marriott Resort and Spa, currently the Vinpearl Luxury Danang, the 500-key Sheraton Phu Quoc Long Beach Resort, now the Vinpearl Phu Quoc Resort, the 362-key Sheraton Hai Phong, currently the Vinpearl Hotel Imperial Hai Phong, the 262-key Sheraton Can Tho, currently the Vinpearl Hotel Can Tho, and the 127-key Four Points by Sheraton Lang Son, currently the Vinpearl Hotel Lang Son.
The two new-build hotels are expected to be operational in 2025 – the Sheraton Vinh and Four Points by Sheraton Ha Giang. Both hotels are located in unique locations promising to attract domestic and international travelers.
