Save The Date: Heritage Preservation & Economic Development in ASEAN 2020 By SCE Project Asia
The 5th ‘Heritage Preservation & Economic Development In ASEAN’ conference was envisioned as a platform for city planners, architects, the public and the media to come together.
In October, we sat down with Luigi Campanale, the CEO of SCE Project ASIA, to talk about the future of cities; specifically about ways Asian cities can use their cultural heritage to fight against negative societal challenges while promoting a better quality of life.
Luigi touched upon many important issues. Key among them are the role organizations and governments play in promoting the circular economy (an economic system aimed at eliminating waste and the continual use of resources) and educating the public.
Working in concert
Within that framework, the event that SCE Project Asia is hosting at the 5-star InterContinental Saigon hotel on 8 December 2020 was envisioned as a platform for city planners, architects, the public and the media to come together and reach mutually acceptable solutions.
Organized in partnership with Vietcetera Media, the 5th ‘Heritage Preservation & Economic Development In ASEAN’ conference is supported by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Consulate General of Italy in HCMC, The Venice Architectural Association (VAA) and Italia-ASEAN Association.
The ambition of the organizers is for these exchanges to spark dialogues between ASEAN countries, international authorities and private sectors, while proving to be mutually advantageous to the social and economic development in the region.
The event
The conference is expected to attract over 50 VIP guests and speakers for the half-day program featuring panel discussions, a webinar with participants from ASEAN and Italy, and exclusive networking events with local authorities and business representatives in attendance.
Aiming to spread the culture of heritage preservation through a program of seminars, webinars, technical meetings and academic exchanges focused on urban regeneration, hospitality and promotion of local cultures, the panels will be moderated by Hao Tran, a co-founder and CEO of Vietcetera Media, who will lead discussions covering sustainable tourism, development, trends in hospitality, and adaptive reuse projects.
By lending the city their expertise in the field of preservation and valorization of the artistic, natural and architectural heritage, SCE Project Asia hopes to help Saigon’s urban planners and authorities to adopt a more holistic approach to urban development.
How to attend
Due to covid-related restrictions on the number of people who can attend the physical event, the organizers are encouraging the public to join in digitally.
The conference will be streamed live on SCE Project Asia's Facebook Page (registration link: https://bit.ly/SCELivestream) and on Zoom (registration link: https://bit.ly/SCEWebinar2020) from 15:00 to 20:00 on 8 December 2020. Once your registration is complete, you will receive an email with your login details and event information.
