Vietcetera Goes Abroad: Our Global Engagement Platform with Overseas Vietnamese
Throughout the rest of this year, Vietcetera will bring a new lens to an almost eight-year effort to connect and engage with the Overseas Vietnamese community.
Our editorials and podcasts have been a long-time presence for the Overseas Vietnamese community, from abroad and from those living in Vietnam, though we’re now taking it up a notch given the rebound in Vietnam’s tourism and renewed interest from the diaspora.
Earlier this year, we kicked proceedings off with a live event program, the inaugural Overseas Vietnamese (OV) Summit in January 2024 with the theme Homecoming. Over three days and two nights, the summit brought together more than 600 Overseas Vietnamese in partnership with the community group OV, in an all-day forum, company tours, and evening dinner parties.
The 2025 Edition will be held between 2-4 January, 2025 in Ho Chi Minh City.
Until then, Vietcetera will double its efforts with live event programming and also introduce a fresh new take on its Overseas Vietnamese-facing audience, with the International edition of Vietcetera.com being geared primarily for the global Overseas Vietnamese community and expatriate audience in Vietnam.
And lastly, our "Vietcetera Goes Abroad" live event series aims to foster cultural exchange, professional networking, and showcase the inspiring stories of opportunity between Vietnam and the host country of our events. Each of the Vietcetera Goes Abroad dates will feature a two-part event.
The first part features the headline musical, cultural, and lifestyle talks and performances. Vietcetera’s team of editors will curate a program designed to bring what is trending and emerging in Vietnam, to the doorsteps of our overseas communities. These events will be in Vietnamese-language.
In the second part, we switch gears to a more business format. Gateway to Vietnam will be the second part of this global live event series, where we will bring professionals, investors, and community organizers together for an afternoon of inspiring stories and entrepreneurial insights about what it takes to build a business in Vietnam - and vice versa.

Houston, Texas (July 25-28, 2024)
Our series kicks off in Houston, in cooperation with the National Association of Asian American Professionals (NAAAP). This event will feature influential voices like Vietcetera’s very own Thuy Minh hosting a series of Have A Sip Live podcasts, creative entrepreneur Chris Do from The Futur, and acclaimed filmmaker Bao Nguyen.
Sessions will explore topics from media influence to entrepreneurial ventures, designed to inspire Vietnamese professionals and the wider Asian community in America, with stories of identity, personal branding and culture synergy.
Tokyo, Japan (September 14th, 2024)
Next, we head to Tokyo, in an event supported by our lead partner FPT Software Japan. This event is off the back of the 50 Year diplomatic relationship between Vietnam and Japan and a burgeoning cultural interest between the two countries, highlighted by the record numbers of tourists going in both directions.
At the same time, more Vietnamese nationals than ever before are calling Japan home - breaking the 500,000 mark earlier in the year.

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (January 2-4, 2025)
In partnership with Overseas Vietnamese (OV), the event in HCMC is part of OV Summit annual series, which aims to reinforce the significance of global connection to Vietnam’s growth and international integration.
Sydney and Melbourne, Australia ( April 2025)
Our Australian chapter of the Vietcetera Goes Abroad live event series aims to weave stronger business and cultural ties between the Vietnamese-Australian diaspora and the Australian companies that are seeking to understand Vietnam better.
We’ll delve into how diasporic ties enhance business opportunities and cultural richness in both Vietnam and Australia, while also delivering a curated cultural program for the Vietnamese community in Australia, which counts as one of the most popular destinations in recent years for investment and study.
Stay tuned to Vietcetera for more updates and stories from our global Vietnamese community, as well as more live events around the world in 2025.
