In April 2016, Vietcetera started with a simple question: how can Vietnam’s stories be shared with the world in a way that feels accurate, thoughtful, and relevant? From there, a small content platform gradually grew into a multi-format media ecosystem, where stories are not only published, but also continued through conversations.

10 Years later, Vietcetera is more than just a publication. It has become a platform with over 20 million monthly views, a place where people come to read, learn, exchange ideas, and sometimes see their own experiences reflected in a changing Vietnam.

From Telling Stories To Creating Space For Vietnamese Voices

In its early years, Vietcetera mainly published in English, focusing on business, society, and contemporary culture. At the time, stories about a dynamic and evolving Vietnam were still limited, especially for international audiences.

A key shift came around 2017–2018 with the launch of the Vietnamese edition. The focus moved from introducing Vietnam to the world to creating a space where Vietnamese people could share their own perspectives. Content became more of a two-way exchange, connecting different generations, viewpoints, and experiences.

This change helped expand the audience and placed Vietcetera within Vietnam’s growing digital content landscape. By 2019–2020, the platform was reaching close to one million readers per month, reflecting a growing interest in content that offers depth, perspective, and connection.

At the same time, Vietcetera began exploring new formats. Beyond written articles, video and podcasts started to play a bigger role.

Podcasts And Longer Conversations

If the early years were about storytelling, then from 2020 onward marked a new chapter: building dialogue. The rise of podcast series such as Have A Sip, Vietnam Innovators, and M.A.D (Make A Difference) created a space where stories were no longer confined to written articles, but extended into deeper, more personal conversations.

There, guests shared not only their achievements, but also their journeys, choices, and even their doubts. Have A Sip, launched in October 2020, stands out as a defining example, transcending the format of a podcast to become a space where listeners find empathy, and where stories continue to travel across multiple formats.

This spirit was further expanded through formats such as Cởi Mở, where once-taboo topics like gender, sex, and reproductive health were brought into open and honest conversations, and Kháng Thương, where guests confronted their fears and personal wounds in order to better understand and overcome them.

By 2021, Vietcetera’s podcast ecosystem had grown not only in depth but also in breadth, with multiple formats developing in parallel. With six podcast series spanning lifestyle, business, creativity, and culture, audiences could always find something to accompany and enrich their everyday routines.

This evolution reflects an important shift: from simply delivering content to nurturing meaningful and ongoing conversations.

Expanding Into Experiences

Since 2023, Vietcetera has developed specialized verticals as a strategic move to build distinct content communities, rather than simply expanding editorial scope.

Vietnam Innovators Digest has grown into an independent ecosystem, with its own content channels and the long-running Vietnam Innovators Podcast, now approaching the milestone of 500 episodes, one of the most enduring series on business and innovation in Vietnam.

Vietnam Innovators Digest (VNID) is a content ecosystem produced by Vietcetera, launched in May 2025, offering insights and practical advice from some of Vietnam’s leading business leaders, investors, and economic experts.

Onboardy stands out through its hands-on approach, with initiatives such as Nuoc Di and various hackathons, where content is transformed into real-world learning and career development experiences for young professionals.

“Nước Đi” (loosely translated as Guess the Job by the Look) is a standout video series under Onboardy — Vietcetera’s career-focused content ecosystem — launched in October 2024.

Meanwhile, Flavors goes beyond food storytelling, gradually shaping its role as a platform that celebrates Vietnamese culture through annual initiatives such as the Bánh Mì Awards, while continuing to expand its mission of bringing Vietnamese culinary identity to a wider audience.

Flavors Vietnam is a large-scale annual food and beverage (F&B) event series co-organized by Vietcetera and Mastercard.

Alongside these initiatives, more than 86 events have been held across Vietnam and internationally, connecting over 10,000 attendees in person and more than 100 brand partners, marking a clear shift from content to experience.

The Vietnam ESG Investor Conference is an annual event series, launched in 2024 and organized by Vietcetera and Raise Partners. The conference focuses on discussions around Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices, sustainable investment, and building resilient business systems for companies in Vietnam.

At this stage, Vietcetera is no longer just a place where stories are produced, but a space where they converge through forums, conferences, workshops, and initiatives where content becomes an opportunity.

The People Behind The Stories

Throughout this journey, people have remained at the center. Vietcetera brings together voices from different fields - leaders, experts, and storytellers, who share perspectives on culture, identity, and personal growth. These stories don’t just inform; they help shape how a generation understands itself and its role in society.

Alongside this is a network of more than 585 contributors and thousands of guests, covering topics from business and technology to lifestyle, psychology, and the arts. This diversity gives Vietcetera its editorial depth and connects different communities in one shared space.

alt
At every stage of Vietcetera’s growth, its writers have done more than simply tell stories, they have continuously experimented with new formats, creating series that are both distinctive and relatable, while offering fresh perspectives on contemporary life. Among them is Vietcete-vô, short for Vô Việt Vân Vân - a playful series that explores the many little quirks, stories, and “everything in between” of Vietnamese life.

In that space, readers are not just audiences, they are part of the conversation.

Staying Grounded While Continuing To Evolve

After a decade, Vietcetera can be measured through many numbers: more than 11,000 bilingual articles, tens of millions of monthly reach across social platforms, and content series that attract millions of views each year.

But beyond these numbers lies something more constant: its original direction. “Bring Vietnam to the world and bring the world to Vietnam” remains its guiding mission, rooted in the belief that every story is meant to connect, to open dialogue, and to help Vietnam be seen more deeply in an increasingly multipolar world.

And if the past 10 years have been about laying the foundation, then the journey ahead promises even more to unfold. Happy 10th birthday, Vietcetera - the next decade is just getting started.
