Since its launch in 2015, ELSA has always been firm with its vision: to become the best and most accessible pronunciation training tool for English language learners around the world. For the AI-powered speech technology platform, the ability to speak English confidently and fluently can unlock new and bigger opportunities in people’s lives, including the Vietnamese.

Today, it continues to be trailblazer for English communication as it launches its newest service, the ELSA Testing System, which assesses professional skills, soft skills and English proficiency among employees and applicants.

Designed on a computer basis with multiple-choice format of questions, the system has outstanding features that offer all-in-one experience with a one-stop shop, providing a simple process for both test takers and administrators.

ELSA collaborated with OOLAB, one of the leading education technology startups in Vietnam for language learning, general training and education as a service (EAAS).

Seen as a powerful and huge partnership especially at a time when the coronavirus pandemic is pushing the world away from it traditional ways — including hiring new employees — ELSA and OOOLAB share the same vision and mission of inspiring Vietnamese to improve English, together with the hope of supporting corporate partners better.

“ELSA is extremely excited to have a strategic partner like OOOLAB that shares the same mission of empowering the Vietnamese workforce through English proficiency. We believe removing the language barrier will empower Vietnamese talents to better seize opportunities globally,” said Mr. Michael Ngo, Vietnam Country Manager at ELSA.

The human resources demand for English speakers is growing faster than ever, added Michael. English proficiency is a key skill that will only elevate Vietnam’s growing workforce. In fact, English proficiency continues to be as important as professional qualifications.

“ELSA’s collaboration with OOOLAB enables us to bring value to organizations with our comprehensive competency testing system. By improving the quality of new recruits as well as ongoing assessment of current employees, we can enhance an organization's business performance and ultimately raise their bottomline.”

This new service will also allow companies to easily allocate tests to multiple candidates in different positions and departments within a single platform, have a birds eye view of all recruits by providing real-time tracking and monitoring of candidates’ testing and performance in great detail, as well as receiving immediate automated assessment scores of candidates.

Covering a variety of English skills such as Listening, Reading, Pronunciation and Speaking, Grammar and Vocabulary compiled by ELSA’s language experts, and the TOEIC equivalent test provided by OOOLAB, the testing system’s content is built based on business-related content and designed to give companies insights into each candidate’s English capability.

Pioneers in education technology

Both ELSA and OOOLAB have a proven track record of being innovators in education technology, helping transform Vietnam’s traditional education system into a globally competitive sector.

With ELSA’s proprietary AI-powered speech recognition technology, which can detect pronunciation errors at various levels and give instant feedback on how to improve, the company has received global recognitions such as being listed among Forbes’ top four companies using AI to transform the world, an honorable mention at Fast Company’s World Changing Ideas Award in 2020, and was most recently listed in AI 100 of CB Insights.

Today, ELSA has more than 13 millions users and tapped new markets as international lockdowns have prompted a new need for tech-based learning solutions.

Award-winning education technology company, OOOLAB, provides learners, educators, and organizations in Vietnam and SEA the tools and guidance they need to manage their digital transformation. The company has enrolled thousands of users and works with multiple prominent companies such as Pham Nguyen, Level Lingo, and Edukos Academy.

OOOLAB has been nominated as a SEA Edtech Top 50 Startup by HolonIQ, Top 10 Brand in Vietnam by Asia Business Centre, and Top 50 in Education by GFEL in Dubai. OOOLAB has also had its curriculum and content certified by Education Alliance Finland.

The two companies are officially collaborating to provide a comprehensive testing system with the goal of helping businesses and organizations to recruit the right talent and to assess their current workforce’s skills and competencies.

“Here at OOOLAB, we are very excited to be collaborating with ELSA and combining our expertise to bring the Vietnamese people and the wider SEA region the best learning tools, technologies, and assessments to empower the workforce of tomorrow. Like ELSA, OOOLAB believes that the demand for talent that is proficient in English is on the rise,” said Mr. Cedric Le Quellec, CEO of OOOLAB.

“It makes sense that offering employers and organizations an elegant, delightful, and scalable solution to identify English-proficient talent is paramount to remaining competitive in the world of tomorrow.”

“While English instruction is one of our core focuses, OOOLAB also provides technology solutions for K-12, higher education, enrichment and tutoring, and corporate learning and development.”

As of now, ELSA and OOOLAB have been trialing the testing system with several partners in technology, engineering, and business industries. With this effective and practical solution, the companies expect a joint effort from the community to improve English skills for current and future human resources of Vietnam.
