The Big Names Gracing The Vietnam Food & Beverage Conference 2023 In Hanoi
Who’s excited about the Vietnam Food & Beverage Conference in Hanoi?
The whole-day event — the first of the many events for Flavors Vietnam 2023 — will offer fresh perspectives and innovative ideas from industry trailblazers and culinary influencers at Novotel Hanoi Thai Ha in the capital city of Hanoi from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
You can purchase tickets at the Vietcetera Store.
With all the ups and downs experienced by the F&B industry, the conference will open a much-needed knowledge-sharing platform among experts, decision-makers, and enthusiasts working to make the F&B sector more globally recognized and resilient in the years to come.
This is the second time Vietcetera is bringing the large-scale conference to Hanoi, where traditional and modern culinary and drinking scenes perfectly depict Vietnam’s openness to new trends while staying true to its roots.
Here are some of the big names gracing the conference on Friday.
Hoang Tung — TUNG Dining
Hoang Tung is the incredibly creative chef behind Vietnam’s first-ever tasting menu. Tung’s restaurants, T.U.N.G Dining and A by T.U.N.G, have now become two of the country’s most favored fine dining venues for their unparalleled love for modern and playful flavors and their priceless dedication to introducing out-of-the-box F&B concepts. Hoang Tung won “Chef of the Year” at the Vietnam Restaurant & Bar Awards 2022, a “surprising win,” as he described it to be, that didn’t just open more opportunities for him and his team but reminded him of his “responsibilities towards the Vietnamese culinary and chef community.”
Hoang Tung will have his own spotlight talk about the rise of a new generation of consumers pioneering new trends in Vietnam, and will sit alongside an equally reputable industry icon Tu Phan of Ngoặm, for a panel discussion on Vietnam’s position in the global culinary map through recognitions from Asia’s 50 Best and the arrival of Michelin Guide this year.
Vu My Linh — NoFoodPhobia
Everyone who loves Vietnamese food (both traditional and fusion) has probably checked @nofoodphobia on Instagram more than once. Vu My Linh, a food and travel blogger, documents her food and drink adventures in Vietnam and beyond through social media and website. Her influence (she’s got nearly 100K followers!) in the F&B industry can’t be disregarded; her reviews are straightforward as they are exciting.
With the rising popularity of food influencers, this year’s conference will dedicate a panel discussion on their impact on F&B businesses. Do their reviews help make or break a restaurant or bar’s name? Ha Chu from Cooked F&B School will join this panel.
Ronald Fernandez & Thu Vuong — 4P’s
Pizza 4P’s has been part of Vietcetera’s journey since Day 1, with the latter believing in and supporting the restaurant chain’s mission of spreading happiness through good food. Marketing Director Ronald Fernandez and Sustainability Specialist Thu Vuong will be sharing the 4P’s story — from its inception to its sustainability initiatives that could be a success model on how restaurants should operate in the country.
Vincent Mourou — Marou Chocolate
Marou Chocolate is one of Vietnam’s pride, being the first and original true-Vietnamese chocolate brand. And we have Vincent Mourou and his business partner, the late Samuel Maruta, to thank for that. These two foreign men started their chocolate business after trekking in the south Vietnamese jungle, where they saw acres of cacao growing in the Mekong Delta. The pair helped bring Vietnamese chocolate to the world and became pillars of the dessert industry.
Vincent Mourou, along with Hoa Quoc Anh of C'est Si Bon and Olive Studio and Ly Ngoc Thiep of Ly Gia Vien, will talk about the baking and pastry industry in Vietnam and how their brands are finding harmony between the local culture and international techniques.
Hospitality Experts
We will be opening the floor for a common but rarely discussed topic in the industry: the correlation between the hotel industry and F&B establishments and how dining and drinking venues set within a hotel property can offer a new experience for diners.
We’ve invited Dang Thi Hai Linh from Novotel Hanoi Thai Ha and Dennis Laubenstein from Capella Hanoi to offer their perspectives on the market for in-hotel restaurants and bars, and on the emerging trends both hotels and restaurants can draw inspiration from to elevate their services.
Other exciting personalities you can expect at the Vietnam Food & Beverage Conference in Hanoi include: Nguyen Luan of Diageo and Phan Dao of Jigger Group to shine a spotlight on Vietnam nightlife; George Bloomfield of Khoi Restaurant, Quang Dung of Chapter Dining & Grill and Tú Phan of Ngoặm to provide insights on making fine dining more accessible to masses; Taku Tanaka of Kamereo to discuss the convenience, affordability and boundless options of online food platforms; Nguyen Quy Duc of Tadioto on Vietnam’s rising F&B scene; and Scott Sehoon Bahng of Lacaph on how local brands are ushering a new coffee revolution.
All these and more at the Vietnam Food & Beverage Conference 2023!
