The Travel Industry’s Sharpest Minds Are Coming To Da Nang. Here’s Why That Matters?

When the world’s largest community of travel professionals had to choose where to gather its Asia network for a second year running, it didn’t pick Singapore, Bangkok, or Bali. It picked Da Nang.

From August 21 to 22, the Travel Massive Asia Conference returns to Central Vietnam, bringing together tourism operators, entrepreneurs, creators, and media from across the region for two days of panels, interviews, masterclasses, and the kind of hallway conversations that quietly reshape an industry. A Conference Built Like The Region It Serves

This year’s edition runs on an expanded format. Day one takes place at the Ariyana Convention Centre in Da Nang, folded into the final day of the HorecFex hospitality convention, a pairing now in its second year that puts travel thought leadership in front of one of the region’s largest hospitality audiences.

The headline session belongs to Sean Mulhern, co-founder of One Life Adventures, who will unpack his founder journey building one of the most recognizable small-group tour brands for young travelers. Around him, panels tackle the questions keeping travel marketers up at night: how brands stay visible as AI reshapes search, how the creator economy is maturing in Southeast Asia, and which travel trends will define 2027.

Day one also hosts the Travel Startup Pitch Competition, where five tourism startups from across Southeast Asia pitch a panel of industry judges for the top spot. Central Vietnam has spent the past decade building the hardware of a world-class destination: an international airport minutes from the beach, a convention center that has hosted APEC, and a hotel corridor that runs from Da Nang’s coastline to Hoi An’s heritage streets. What events like Travel Massive Asia bring is the software: networks, ideas, and the industry’s attention.

That a global travel community chose to return here, and to expand while doing so, suggests the region’s pitch is landing. The conference doesn’t just showcase Vietnam as a backdrop.
