Tuyen Lam Lake Set To Become Vietnam’s First UNESCO-Recognized Asia-Pacific Tourism Area
Tuyen Lam Lake in Lam Dong, Vietnam, is set to receive prestigious recognition from UNESCO as an outstanding Asia-Pacific tourism area. The official title will be awarded during the Vietnam-India cultural and economic exchange in New Delhi on August 3.
Nguyen Quoc Tuyen, the Director of the Management Board overseeing the area, proudly shared that Tuyen Lam Lake will be Vietnam’s first site to achieve this honor, making it the sole recipient in Asia this time. The application for the title was submitted to UNESCO in March.
Located 6 km south of Da Lat, a renowned tourist destination, Tuyen Lam Lake covers an impressive 350 hectares, formed by the merging of the Tia Stream and Da Tam River’s headwater. Although the origin of its name remains a mystery, it likely reflects the harmonious meeting of water and trees in the majestic landscape. “Tuyen” means stream, and “Lam” means forest, beautifully symbolizing this natural convergence.
The lake and its surroundings offer a refreshing atmosphere, serene ambiance, and diverse natural landscape. It is poised to become a major attraction, offering a variety of unique tourism experiences, including sightseeing, camping, health retreats, trekking, mountaineering, fishing, visits to revolutionary sites, and other recreational activities, with a special emphasis on eco-tourism.
For an awe-inspiring perspective, consider taking a cable car ride or enjoying the view from a high vantage point. Tuyen Lam Lake unfurls like a mesmerizing miniature ocean, with each oasis on the lake resembling a separate continent. The vastness of the sky meeting the water’s surface creates an immersive experience, revealing a different facet of Da Lat’s beauty.
