The fourth edition of the Vietnam ESG Investor Conference successfully took place on May 26–27, 2026, at New World Saigon Hotel. Co-organized by Raise Partners and Ivy+Partners, with Vietnam Innovators Digest serving as the Exclusive Community Partner, the event brought together more than 250 delegates and over 40 leading speakers from government agencies, international investment funds, and pioneering businesses.
This year’s attendee community reflected the growing diversity of Vietnam’s ESG ecosystem, connecting investors, multinational corporate leaders, SMEs, start-ups, and scholars from across the region. Notably, the conference’s mission to advance sustainable growth was further strengthened through the support of major partners, including the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and respected organizations such as HSBC, Dynam Capital, Fair Wear, SVN, and New World Saigon Hotel.
Under the theme “Full Steam Ahead: Investing in Vietnam’s Evolution,” this year’s conference unpacked emerging market signals shaping Vietnam’s next growth phase, highlighting a significant shift in the country’s ESG journey, from awareness and commitment toward practical implementation and real execution.
ESG Is Becoming An “Investment Capital Filter”
As Vietnam moves closer to achieving FTSE Emerging Markets status, the country is opening new opportunities to attract large-scale international capital. However, this momentum also comes with growing pressure. Businesses are now expected to meet higher standards in governance, transparency, and operational excellence if they want to remain competitive and investment-ready.
In this context, ESG is no longer viewed as a reporting exercise or a sustainability communications tool. Instead, it is increasingly becoming a key framework through which investors assess resilience, governance quality, and long-term growth potential.
Speaking at the conference, Ms. Mimi Vu, Co-Founder & Expert at Raise Partners, emphasized: “Vietnam has already left the starting line and the pace of change is unrelenting. Businesses need to stop treating ESG like a compliance exercise and start using it as the competitive advantage that it truly is. Companies that turn ESG into real execution will be the leaders in unlocking capital and writing Vietnam’s next chapter.”
Sharing a similar perspective, Ms. Kate Wallace, Australian Consul-General in Ho Chi Minh City, highlighted that responsible investment is essential to building a more resilient and competitive economy as Vietnam deepens its integration into global markets. “As Vietnam integrates deeper into global markets, ESG is now core to investor confidence. The opportunity before us is to ensure that the capital we invest today delivers growth that is cleaner, fairer, more resilient, and more inclusive.”
Bridging The Gap Between Commitment And Execution
One of the most candid discussions throughout the conference revolved around a common challenge facing many businesses today. The issue is not a lack of willingness to embrace ESG principles. Instead, the biggest barriers often lie in the shortage of verifiable data, governance systems, and the operational capability required to integrate ESG standards into day-to-day business activities.
From the perspective of international investors, these factors have become increasingly important when evaluating investment opportunities. Mr. Craig Martin, Chairman of Dynam Capital, shared: “Investors do not expect perfection from the outset; rather, we look for a genuine willingness to transition and improve over time. For us, ESG is characterized by transparency, robust governance, and proactive engagement with stakeholders.”
To address these challenges, the conference featured highly practical discussions focused on implementation, including 90-day ESG commitments, clean energy optimization in manufacturing, sustainable finance solutions for SMEs, and opportunities for climate-tech innovators.
From Awareness To Action
Perhaps the most significant takeaway from this year’s conference was the maturity of the conversations taking place. Rather than debating ESG definitions, businesses increasingly focused on how ESG directly impacts operations, supply chains, market competitiveness, and fundraising capability.
According to Ms. Ivy Nhi Chau, Founder & CEO of Ivy+Partners: “The dialogue on ESG in Vietnam is moving from awareness to action. Businesses are engaging in deeper discussions on how ESG directly impacts operations, markets, and fundraising capabilities through real-life stories and practical examples.”
This evolution signals a broader shift in mindset across the market. ESG is no longer treated as a standalone sustainability initiative but as a strategic capability closely linked to long-term business performance.
Building Connections Across the Ecosystem
Beyond its 13 spotlight sessions, the conference also featured exhibition spaces showcasing sustainable products, circular economy solutions, and innovative service models. These activations created opportunities for investors, businesses, and ecosystem partners to connect directly, exchange insights, and explore long-term collaboration opportunities.
The presence of organizations across sectors further reinforced an emerging reality: regardless of size or industry, businesses have the opportunity to accelerate their transition toward a more sustainable and circular economy through practical, achievable steps focused on strengthening internal capabilities.
Looking Ahead
The conference concluded with networking sessions designed to foster stronger partnerships between investors and Vietnamese enterprises. As global capital continues to evolve, the key differentiator is no longer whether a company is aware of ESG principles. Instead, the real challenge lies in execution, transparency, and the ability to transform ESG commitments into measurable, long-term growth capabilities.
The discussions at the 2026 Vietnam ESG Investor Conference made one thing clear: ESG is increasingly becoming the new competitive standard for businesses seeking access to future investment capital.
