There’s an exciting new addition to Saigon’s electrifying bar scene — BARSON! The opulent bar finally opened its doors in the lobby area of the Le Méridien Saigon. The design concept is inspired by its proximity to the iconic Ba Son shipyard, which was the city's epicenter, especially during French colonial times.

This area had fallen upon hard times and lay neglected but has experienced rapid development recently, most notably heralded by the construction of the shimmering, towering Ba Son Bridge. And so, the design concept seeks to pay homage to the area’s storied history with a nod also given to the present and ever-changing perspective of this vibrant city nourished by the Saigon River.

The moment guests step through tall and imposing chrome pivot doors, their eyes are drawn to a layered ceiling that flows seamlessly from the entrance with gorgeously lit bronzed lighting. The lighting offers a feeling of warmth yet spotlights the prominent areas of the bar, notably the sunken VIP sofa seating section, which is unique compared to many other outlets where these sections would be elevated.

The design concept feels almost tropical, inspired by the proximity to the river and Saigon’s temperate climate, yet flashes of slate grey remind us of the historical presence of the once-great Ba Son Shipyard.

The furniture design feels opulent and could also be described as “sessionable” as guests will sink into the comfortable armchairs and sofa arrangements, increasing “dwell time.”

A feature wallpaper design promotes intrigue around a collage of extinct animals blended with a contemporary botanical vista. The chrome design of the entrance and ceiling flows nicely through to the well-stocked bar, around which the lighting has been thoughtfully positioned to showcase this as the outlet’s beating heart.

For those who prefer the “al fresco” style, an outside deck is accessible where guests feel more closely connected to the river and Saigon’s urban landscape, especially after dark when the lights shine brightest.

A fully equipped DJ booth has been fashioned next to the sunken VIP section signaling their intention to increase the tempo, vibe, and energy and establish BARSON as a true nightlife destination.

So get ready for a new genre as BARSON pilots the concept of “vibe dining” as a cool and funky atmosphere wraps itself around a tasty menu with crafted cocktails.

Look out for their All Day Breakfast option with truffle scrambled eggs and a range of nibbles and appetizers like sweet and spicy cashew nuts, wagyu beef tartare, and freshly shucked oysters.

They have done their homework on their cocktail program and unveiled an eclectic range of signature cocktails alongside the classics. The Lotus Negroni, Blue Lagoon, and Tropical Margaritas are especially reflective of their concept, look eye-catching, and are well worth a try.

The level of service and hospitality at BARSON should be of a high standard. They have recruited David Sosa, a suave and sophisticated fixture of the hospitality scene in Saigon, as their Bar Manager. Many of the staff also came from other prestigious bars and restaurants in the city.

Stay tuned for further developments around Le Méridien Saigon as they look to announce a highly elevated restaurant concept. They also have ambitious plans for their one-of-a-kind bar soon.
