Could you tell us more about Mandara Spa’s establishment and how it’s operated?
Mandara Spa is a global spa development company, operating mostly in hotels, resorts, and on-board cruise ships. Mandara was founded in Bali, Indonesia in 1996. It was one of the pioneers in tropical Asian spa style, which focuses on natural products, tropical settings and open-air spa suites for couples.
Today, Mandara Spa operates among different markets, from elegant villas in luxurious boutique hotels to modern spa clubs in city hotels. Depending on the needs and expectations of the hotel’s manager and its clientele, each spa will have unique designs and services.
Mandara Spa opened its first spa in Vietnam in February 2018, followed by another 14 spa openings within one year. Today, we operate 15 spas across 5 cities in Vietnam: Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang, Da Nang, Hoi An and Phu Quoc.

What inspires you to open Akoya Spa in an urban location?
After successfully operating 14 spas in high-end resorts in Vietnam, our cooperation with the Vinpearl group was taken to a whole new level.
We cooperated with Vinpearl to open a wellness center in their Vinpearl Luxury hotel located inside the Landmark 81 tower. It later became Akoya’s flagship spa in Ho Chi Minh City. Tucked away on the 47th and 48th floor, far above the hustle and bustle of Ho Chi Minh City, Akoya Spa with its unique ‘Bali in the sky’ concept was designed to be an ideal spot of relaxation.

Our trainers from Bali spend months guiding and directing Akoya Spa’s therapist team in Vietnam. All Akoya Spa therapists undergo a nine-week training program including theory and practice.
After this training program, we ensure that the therapists are qualified in all aspects including technical and customer service skills. Moreover, we always make sure that they are annually updated with new techniques and knowledge, so that our service standards are similar and consistent anywhere in Vietnam.
Additionally, Mandara Spa Asia assigns a dedicated team of professional Spa Managers, Spa Trainers and an Operation Managers to work with Akoya Spa in Vietnam. All our management team members have been trained at Mandara’s Training Center in Bali by the senior management team.
