It’s late at night. Most restaurants are closed, stomachs are rumbling, you just got out of the club after an eventful night, and you and your friends start to look at each other and wonder where to get food. Previously we compiled a list of clubs and bars in Ho Chi Minh City; at Vietcetera, we can’t leave you hungry after a night out. To help put out your late night crave, we list out some restaurants where you can drop by to cure your hunger.
Hung Xiu
Hung Xiu is the go to place of many Saigonese for late night food because of its selection of Vietnamese dishes. Located on a small street near the Pham Ngu Lao area, the restaurant has a long history of being the destination for club goers during after party hours. Their menu consists of many traditional Saigonese plates such as fried salted chicken cartilage, a variety of porridges, duck’s tongue stew, among other late night delicacies. Hung Xiu opens from 5pm-5am so you wouldn’t have to worry about not making it after an eventful night.
Dishes to try: Chicken cartilage (sun ga), duck’s tongue stew (luoi vit sabo)

Hu Tieu Nhan Quan
Previously mentioned on our article discussing what local Vietnamese eat for breakfast, Hu Tieu is amongst the top favorites of Saigonese. Open from 5pm to late, Hu Tieu Nhan Quan has built up a consistent flow of customers because of the quality and value offered, especially the broth. Located on the Nguyen Trai Street roundabout, you can easily spot the restaurant by its bright lights and the steam from their stock pot. Ranging from 50,000-100,000đ the price is a little stiff for a bowl of Hu Tieu; however, we can guarantee that you’ll get your money’s worth at Nhan Quan.

Geylang Lor 9 – Chao Ech Singapore
Franchised from the famous frog porridge restaurant in Singapore, the owners of Geylang Lor 9 had a mission of bringing the traditional flavors of Singapore to Vietnam. Not so long after opening, Geylang has established its name amongst food lovers in Ho Chi Minh City. Lying on the busy Dong Du street, Geylang gives the customer a Singaporean vibe when they arrive at the restaurant. Geylang Lor 9 not only serves frog porridge, it also offers a variety of classic Singaporean dishes. This is the perfect place for you and your group of friends to enjoy food late at night.
Dish to try: Frog porridge ( Chao Ech)

Pho Ha (in front of Bitexco Tower)
In Ho Chi Minh City, it’s not easy to find a “done right” chicken Pho. At Pho Ha, not only do they prepare an amazing chicken Pho, but they also open until 5AM. Sitting on the low chairs and slurping the Pho noodles gives you an authentic vibe of Vietnamese culture. A bowl of Pho here is filled with delicious walking chicken meat, scallions, boiled premature chicken eggs (recommended to have it with your Pho). Pho is not the only popular dish here. They also offer other traditional Vietnamese dishes such as sticky rice pancakes with pork flakes, chicken porridge, and chicken salads.

Phuong Cua Restaurant
Located on Ly Tu Trong Street near Ben Thanh Market, Phuong Cua is an old fashioned “Nhậu” restaurant of Ho Chi Minh City. In the name Phuong Cua, Cua in Vietnamese means crab. It’s no surprise that this restaurant specializes in crab dishes. They offer various crab dishes such as stir fried crab with tamarind, fried salted crab with chili, fried crab with rice vermicelli or field crab hot pot. If you’re in the mood for something adventurous, we would recommend you to try the live coconut worm served in spicy fish sauce.

Red Hot Wok
Red Hot Wok is a Chinese restaurant located in the center of District 1. The atmosphere here reminds you of a classic Chinese restaurant with the red and black color tone. People usually get their roasted or deep fried pigeons. They also provide frog porridge that is on par wit Geylang Lor 9. The menu at Red Hot Wok features dishes from other Southeast Asian countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, and Vietnam.

A Buu Sai Gon
Different from the rest of the list, A Buu Sai Gon has an upscale environment if you’re looking for something other than classic street food. With the dimmed lights and live music, A Buu Sai Gon is perfect as a late night spot. The menu offers various traditional Vietnamese dishes. A Buu is known for their rice dishes that are served in clay pots.
Dish to try: Fried rice with char siu and bok choy (Com Chien Xa Xiu)

Din Ky Restaurant
Around since the 90s, Din Ky is the original of late night restaurants. Din Ky’s menu offers hundreds of dishes from Western to Eastern cuisines. They also provide a long list of fresh seafoods where you can pick and choose from their fish tanks. Open 24/7, you can come to Din Ky throughout the day when they serve dim sum in the morning, traditional Vietnamese food during lunch time, and mainly seafood at night time.
